Prepare carefully while looking for dev jobs
So, I decided to take a small break from job hunting. Only to get stuck in my favorite game Rimworld.
The thought that popped up in my overly imaginative mind, “How does human relation really work?”, “…when applicants apply for a position, does the HR people use custom tools they created them self”? I could not drop the idea of a mashup between Rimworlds awesome team picking interface and modern HR tools.
Lets start a new team!
For those who do not know what Rimworld is, you probably should stop reading, go to steam and buy it. It is literally blizz on tap, you cant find an any better anthill-burn-simulator. Maybe you can, but Dwarf fortress does not count, since I have not got the guts to acquire it yet. A small description of Rimworld, you watch named pixels (That you sometimes you grow attached to) go up in smoke, sometime that smoke is you, most of the time it is random by a guy named Randy. So flatulently random that you question your mental state and start over to test if there is a quantum possibility that it can happen again, and yes, it can. Blizz.
Even though I am merely beginning to explore the surface of Rimworld, measly 300 hours put in, I feel it just becomes better and better.
However, setting up my team in a “random” game, my curious nature could not stop asking: What if? Recruiters have a similar tool like Prepare carefully in Rimword! Is that tool integrated with Maltego, damn I need to get a new email? There cannot be only teamtailor out there.
Do recruiters see all our flaws and strongpoints as stats neatly arranged in a UI perfect as Rimworlds, or do they just use their gut feeling?
What is the perfect pawn, and have any recruiter struck gold? Without cheating.
Is recruiting as random as in Randy random mode, what happens when you actually make the final rocket pod, do you get a raise?
Does any recruiter would have just press random and see what happens?
A completely different question, why cant you get pawns that have experience with bug infestations. Kind of like, Ripley in Aliens, sole survivor of the Nostromo. Or even better, burning desire for finding and stop infestations preemptively. Well, well…
This was just a side track, back to meeting more awesome recruiters like those I have had the pleasure to meet.
